Create and morph an extruded 3d map in to a globe

Tools needed Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator You may use either Photoshop or Illustrator. But I prefer Illustrator because it will create smooth and crisp curves while Photoshop produce jaggy curves. Autodesk Maya 1. Get a high resolution earth map. You need the alpha map separately if you are using a geographical map. For this tutorial I am using a vector earth map which can be downloaded here. 2. Open it in Photoshop and by using magic wand (w) select the outer region representing ocean and delete it.

Realistic Diamond in Maya_tutorial

Hi friends, Rendering a realistic looking diamond in Maya is little bit trickier.In this tutorial I have used Mental ray for rendering but used default Blinn material for shading.I didn't used any lights,caustics,HDR map,final gather or global illumination for this scene.The final glow is achieved by After effects.In after effects I used Default glow because I want to show with in our limit we can make some thing good like this.If you have Sapphire plug ins use it wisely for getting some real glows.I skipped lighting for this scene because the same reason, I want to show that it is possible in this way too.If you are capable of doing a studio lighting and caustics the final out will be awesome

Maya-Tutorial:Getting occlusion of alpha mapped objects.

Getting occlusion with Maya is very easy. We have to do is simply set render layers and applying the occlusion pre-set. After we have to tweak the quality, spread and maximum distance etc. By pressing the render button we will get a nice occlusion output. If you don’t know the procedures just go through this tutorial.

Rendering is the most final thing in the 3d animation package.Setting the render is not that much easy as it seems.Simply clicking the render wont give the perfect image even if you did lighting texturing everything correctly.OK I agree if you set the render settings correctly you can get the desired output! But if you know about compositing? Why compositing is the necessary part for every animated film?Simply because it gives more control over your final image.Even if you know compositing you have to get the different layers/passes correctly.In Maya it is simple and very comfortable if you know the technique.In advanced layering Maya lacks some special features such as object/shader ID pass,rgb pass,uv pass etc.
