In this almost 1 whole hour tutorial we ll model a candle standing on a table from scratch once the model is complete we ll UVW map the table and then bring the UVWmap into photoshop to texture it We ll use displacement to add detail to the table Then we use a Mental Ray SSS sub surface scattering shader to give the candle a realistic look and to finish off use volume light for some atmosphere around the whole scene In the last part we ll also use photoshop to take our final result a little further by adding glow and some smoke

In this tutorial you ll learn the basics of poly modeling we ll start with simple objects like boxes and cylinders and the convert them to editable poly Then we can start shaping the model by extruding cutting and moving vertices and poly s Once we have finished modeling we ll make the final result more realistic by making a reflective raytrace shader also called material in 3dsmax and set up a simple scene to render

In this tutorial we ll use the Mental Ray renderer with special shaders to make objects glow but the objects are also illuminating the scene for a more realistic result using Final Gather You ll learn how to unlock camera shaders which are hidden by default glare and we ll apply the glow shader to the objects and tweak the settings for a better result When your done you can easily make a similar scene but then model a lightsaber instead and animate it or you could make some neon signs enjoy

neon (or lightsaber), using Mental Ray

In this tutorial we'll use the Mental Ray renderer with special shaders to make objects glow, but the objects are also illuminating the scene for a more realistic result using Final Gather. You'll learn how to unlock (camera) shaders which are hidden by default (glare) and we'll apply the glow shader to the objects and tweak the settings for a better result. When your done you can easily make a similar scene but then model a lightsaber instead and animate it or you could make some neon signs, enjoy.
