Whether it be point-, line- or suface-symmetry, there's always one or a combination. This will reduce modeling difficulty and effort tremendously, since Max has, since version 5, the Symmetry modifier which is very handy.

The Raybrig Honda NSX model, 3D Studio max 5

I am a graphic designer/illustrator, this model was made purely as a means to learn 3D modelling, in particular, mesh/box modeling, which I found was pretty much the same across all platforms and applications unlike NURBS or Patches.

V-ray HDRI settings in 3dsmax (not another pool ball :)

I started this project while I was trying to render some glass in the mini-challenge of CGTALK.Window and Kleinbottle are not modelled by me but taken from the site of the competition. I wanted to use V-ray and GI and I found some tutorials on the web about V-ray and HDRI but all of them were about pool balls. I needed also to learn a simple texturing and in my room there is a matryoshka http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matryoshka_doll that smiles at me near my 3d books and so I decided to model it and see what I could achieve learning a bit more about settings of HDRI and DOF in V-ray (www.chaosgroup.com)
